Wordpress Security: Google to launch new tool

30 October 2008 142 views One Comment

Earlier this month, Google announced that they will be expanding the features of the Webmaster Tools portal to include notifications for sites using CMS (content management systems). One of the first groups of web sites that will be notified will be those Wordpress Blogs running version 2.1.1, which is known to have several exploits.

The first things this should awaken in most of use is the realization that your website tools and services need to be kept up to date. The latest version of Wordpress at this writing is 2.6.3.

The CMS Wire expanded upon this topic, noting that the folks at Movable Type have taken this opportunity to highlight the fact that their system is more secure than the Wordpress system.

What a good idea..! As an Adwords user I used to get seriously frustrated with Google but the resources they provide through Webmaster’s Tools really are extremely good and helpful.

    Cheers,

    Martin.
